Developing Ideas

and Designs for

Launch of

Authorial Artefact.

This weeks challenge;

How do you build, promote and tell the story of your new product?

  • Ensure you utilise analogue and digital craft to explore the production requirements of your artefact.

  • At this stage we only require a prototype, a one-page outline or short video of next steps, and even production partners to support any future development. Please remember, prototyping exists to demonstrate the potential and functionality of your output – there are a number of methods / software tools to help make shortcuts so you can give a sense of the bigger picture.

  • This is about expediency, fast iteration, testing and development to help an audience or business partner to see the potential of your proposition.

  • This could potentially be picked up again in your final MA project.

MOVING FORWARD

Content for next step proposal;

In order to progress this idea I will be re-designing the seeded coaster in the shape of a map pin. This is to simplify the design and to make it instantly recognisable as it is now a universally known image.

Source a seeded card supplier and order samples.

I am not sure what copyright issues apply to the google map pin but will look in to it.

A draft app will be designed and made using research in to social platform content and navigation.

Full costings will be made for all aspects of this project. From the cost of seeded card and its production to the design and implementation of the app.

These costings will then be applied as an overall cost to food packagers, distributors and retail outlets.

How to approach possible funding and distribution partners?

Distribution of the coasters to local community centres, doctors surgery's, schools and public library's etc will be looked in to.

A trial run of UCAN. will be developed targeting a particular area and running for a period of 12 months.

Feedback and data will be collected in order to progress and tweak UCAN for a national launch.

This will be backed up by a proposal for a marketing campaign.
